2008 Matt Matthiesen EMS Golf Tournament

The 2008 Matt Mattheisen EMS Golf Tournament is in memory of the former Director of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Division of Emergency Medical Services.

The annual golf tournament will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm at Manada Golf Club located at 609 Golf Lane Grantville, PA (just 1.2 miles from Holiday Inn Harrisburg/Hershey). To register for the event, fill out the golf tournament information on the registration form. Price includes green fees, cart, refreshments, and a light dinner. The price is $65 per player or $250 for a foursome. Prizes will be awarded. You must preregister for this event by July 31, 2008.

2008 Annual EMS Awards Luncheon

Pennsylvania’s annual EMS awards luncheon will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008. The awards luncheon begins at 12:00 pm and features the recognition of Pennsylvania’s EMS providers. The meal will be herbed grilled chicken breast with mango salsa. Tickets are $30 per person or free to those attending the conference on Friday. Awards include: FR/EMT/Paramedic/PHRN of the Year; Instructor of the Year; Dispatcher of the Year; Ambulance Service(s) of the Year; Volunteer of the Year; Amanda E. Wertz Memorial EMSC Award; Nancy Caroline Illness & Injury Prevention Award; EMS Risk Management Award; Rescue Service of the Year, Rescue Technician of the Year; George E. Moerkirk, MD Memorial Senior EMS Volunteer of the Year; and Emergency Physician of the Year.

2008 Vendor Reception

The reception will begin at 4:00 pm and continue until 7:00 pm. Snacks will be available. Please use this time to visit the various exhibitors!

EMS Strike Team Resource Drill & Demonstration

On Tuesday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 13, many of the Bureau’s EMS Strike Team resources will come together at Fort Indiantown Gap, just five minutes from the Holiday Inn in Grantville, for the first ever statewide resource drill and training equipment demonstration. We expect more than 50 support vehicles, trailers and ambulances from across the commonwealth, along with over 200 participating Strike Team members. You will have an opportunity to see a variety of resources that are available to assist patients and responders in the event of any large scale incident, including surge hospital and mass care shelters, off road transport vehicles, portable communications equipment and more! Join us to learn more about how the EMS system in Pennsylvania is evolving to meet the challenges of our time. Transportation from the hotel to the Gap will be provided. You must pre-register for this event on page 17. Lunch will NOT be provided.

PEHSC is able to secure a group rate of $33.50 per person per day ages 9 -54 (regularly $47.95) and $23.50 for children ages 3-8 (regularly $28.95) for admission to Hershey Park. Please contact PEHSC prior to August 6th if you still would like to order tickets at a great rate!
